Reds vs Cubs
Great debut today for Mike Leake doing something that has not been since Arod was a Ranger, Mark McGuire was a hero, and I was trying to learn to adjust to life as a high school freshman. He made his professional debut today at Great American Ballpark pitching for the Cincinnati Reds, just 9 months after being selected in the 2009 first year player draft, going straight from college to the big leagues... and what have you done with your life???
Overall, a very good showing both for Leake and the Cincinnati Reds who won the game 3-1. While he got himself into trouble on several occasions, including the first inning where he loaded the bases before retiring the next three batters on a pop out, a strike out, and a weak grounder to Joey Votto, he showed a mound presence and a maturity well beyond his years. To top it off he went 2 for 2 at the plate and won the Kroger star of the game.
